Help please...Low signal strength and speed
« on: March 11, 2010, 05:56:55 PM »

Hi,
I've got a mystery on my hands.  I got the DIR-655 when they first came out.  I've never had great signal strength/speed in my bedroom, but now I've got such low signal strength/speed that i'm not able to connect to the network.  Even on same level with one wall between gets only 2 bars.  I've tried upgrading firmware, different channels, using WPA2 and g/n and n only.  Nothing seems to work.

Then, I got a Netgear WNR1000v2 free from Comcast to see what it could do.  I wasn't very hopeful since the DIR-655 is supposed to be a superior product and wasn't getting the job done.  Well, I'm getting 4 bars and 108Mbps.  Can anyone help me fix my DLink?

Thanks in advance!

have you tried the Dlink at, a friends place to see if anything in your home may be interfering ?

It is always possible you have a broken antenna or something physical inside the router that is broken...

do you have any 2.4Ghz fones or anything near your router or bedroom pc ?

can you relocate the router elsewhere in your home that may bring better signal to your room while not impacting strength to others already ?
