DIR-655 port forwarding stops working
« on: March 14, 2010, 02:33:56 PM »

Hi I just got a DIR-655 that I would like to replace my trusty old WRT54G.  When I set up some ports to forward everything goes okay, but then after a day or so I noticed that utorrent gave a warning and sure enough it wasn't working.  I set up a different port and then it worked.  Well after three days of this where my forwarding stopped working, I have decided to (at least temporarily) go back to the Linksys.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

I'm having a similar issue. I had ports forwarded for utorrent and modernwarfare2, this weekend it seemed as if they were closed. All my attempts to re-open them have been unsuccessful.

Whats going on with our routers?

check if you have selected random port usage by utorrent.

Once set to a fixed port it should keep working, provided you forwarded the port in the router.

Also check and enable UPNP support on DLINK router and software. That way the app (if supported) will automatically will open necessary ports.

Post back with your results please.

I had this happen when updating to the 1.33NA firmware.
To fix it all the devices that had ports forwarded to them had to be within the DHCP range.

I used to have all my static devices set before the DHCP range and ports forwarded to them with only wireless getting DHCP.  Expanding the range to encompass all of my devices and making the ones that "used" to be static now have reservations set.

My reservations are already set up and I'm having the same problem. I also tried following a fix that recommended turning securespot on and off while forwarding them, restarting at various points but that didn't work either.

my next fix was finding my old DI 604 which i use as a switch in my room and moving it down to be the main router (forwarding these ports is like ninety-twelve times more important than wireless). but for some reason the WAN on that router wouldn't work and all my attempts to get it to connect to my modem failed.

DIR-655 Firmware A4 1.31EU

Can't open ports in Virtual Server and Port forwarding.
Port 21 or anything i throw at it. Disabled router firewall and Windows 7 firewall.
Even put my NAS in DMZ to no avail.

I'm not sure it ever did, since firmware 1.20. I think it's more often seen with the A4 revision.

I had a lot of trouble connecting my NAS and hoped for a firmware fix - but it never did the trick all the way up to 1.31EU!

Just go get another from the store that works.
No big deal - but annoying...
isn't it ?

...Well I did - same A4 with 1.21EU.

Out of the box without Port Forwarding or Virtual Server working  >:(

This is nothing different from the other !!!
I have to return this too, I can't use it without any forwarding.
DMZ is not a solution!

I hear promising things about North American firmware 1.34NA.
Hope you'll release one for EU soon that will wake the dang thing up  :-*
