Author Topic: BitTorrent client has completely stopped working [1.08 Firmware]  (Read 8690 times)

After almost a year of perfect behavior,, BitTorrent started acting kind of weird lately. I had downloaded about 55% of a very large set of files when all of a sudden, it reset to zero. When I reset the NAS, the file went back up to 55% but is not downloading at all. I uploaded other, well-seeded torrents to see if anything would download and nothing will. They're all at 0 kb/s download speed and show no sign whatsoever of progress.

Has this happened to anyone else? What could have happened? I upgraded to firmware 1.08, checked the drives, etc., and it still won't work. I also added the "Bittorent Addon 1.00/APKG module" -- not sure how to use it, but it seemed to have no effect whatsoever. Any ideas at all what could be up?? This is so frustrating.

Similar here.  After upgrading to 1.08 all my torrents will connect to the tracker but not any peers.  I've tried to uninstall the old one, using the apkg add-on and installing Transmission -- all have the same result.

I recently bought the DNS-323 and I updated the firmware to the 1.08 version. I've been unable to download a single file using the BitTorrent function.

Strange, I had no issues with v1.08 and the old or new BT client (many files downloaded) supplied by D-Link. I must admit though, I spent the 5 minutes it takes to instaqll and configure transmission yesterday as it is much slicker / configurable.

This shows just how clueless and indifferent D-Link's support is.  I described my problem in detail regarding upgrading to firmware 1.08 and the multiple symptoms of bittorrent.

Verify the steps below:-

Please visit http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=3025 for complete FAQ and screen shots.

To use BitTorrent on your DNS-323, Firmware 1.05 and D-Link Easy Search Utility version 4.2.0.0 is required.

Step 1: Run the Easy Search utility software version 4.2.0.0

Step 2: Click on BitTorrent. The D-Link Easy Search Utility will install BitTorrent and configure the BitTorrent download folder on your DNS-323 hard drive. Once BitTorrent has been installed and configured, you will see an new volume on your DNS-323 in the utility labeled BT.

Step 3: Log into your DNS-323 Downloads section.

Step 4: Select the BitTorrent tab

Step 5: Enter a torrent file URL and click Add, or select Add Torrent From File and click Browse to locate your Torrent file. Click Add when finished.

Step 6: Click Start on your added Torrents to begin downloading

Try stopping the torrent application, restarting the NAS and then restarting the torrent application and see if that helps.  It seemed to help me with some of my access to the status of the torrent.

as for DLINK support it sucks and the product can barely do what it has been advertised to do.

DLINK constant suggestion to me is RESET to factory and then power cycle the unit and reformat the drives.  Sorry, you have to do better than that dlink

I had a very similar problem.  Root cause was that I had changed the IP address of my home router so in no longer matched the gateway IP setting for the DNS-323.  Corrected the gateway IP and problem solved.  Hope this helps.
