help connect dir-655 to router
« on: April 08, 2010, 08:30:31 AM »

My cable modem is connected to my Tmobile@Home router (Linksys Wireless G with 2 Phone Ports WRTI54G-TM). When I connect my DIR655 to it, nothing on the DIR655 work.
[cable modem]----[tmobile@home]----[dir655]

But when I have the DIR655 connected to the cable modem, and the tmobile at home connected to the dir655, it seems like everything works.
[cable modem]----[dir655]----[tmobile@home]

The 2nd case doesn't help me. I tried to Google this problem and people said to turn off DHCP on the 2nd router, the [dir655], and to set it to static. But Static IP asks for a bunch of weird information that I don't know.

The IP address for my dir655 is 196.168.0.1. The IP addresses of the devices connected to this is around the 190 to 199's.
The IP address for my tmobile@home router is 196.168.0.254, but when I connected it to my Dlink 655, it changes to 196.168.24.254. The IP address of the laptop I connected via wire for this is 192.168.24.100. It can connect fine to the internet.

External IP received by DIR-655 is in same range as what the DHCP of DIR-655 is releasing.

Try to alter the DIR-655 to other range not being 192.n.n.n.

Same you could do on the linksys router. Just make sure the IP received and on the LAN of DIR-655 are not in same range.

Can you let us know if this helps.
