slow connection on one of my PCs

i've got my network running through a linksys wrt54g2... which, in my opinion, isn't the best router out there right now. saying that, my laptop gets okay download/upload speeds. on the otherhand, my desktop PC that has the DWA-125, has really bad up and down speeds. this is also my computer that we are running all of our entertainment off of.
any ideas why it is as slow as it is???
