Access Control in FW 1.11 is BROKEN
« on: February 29, 2008, 06:26:09 AM »

Hi,

After updating to FW 1.11 and resetting my DIR-655 for use with FW 1.11 I find that I can no longer add/delete/edit any of my Network Access policies.  I only have 2 currrently, but its important to me that they work.  I tried to add a wholly new policy, and it ended up giving me an error message using the name of the first policy, that I hadn't even touched.

I would have to think others are having similiar issues just from a quick scan of this forum's past several days posts.

Thanks in advance for any help, altho I am thinking this is solidly a firmware bug....

Have you resetted the unit to factory right you had upgraded the FW? By any chance did you save your last settings and try to upload those settings on this new FW.

Hi,

Yes and yes and no it didn't work, as far as importing the settings back in to the unit.  I had to work from my last save with the 1.05 FW.  That seems to be an issue for other folks as well.  Not being able to import saved settings from more recent FW version saves, but yet older ones seem to work.

Go figger....

Dont import previous settings, this never worked when i went to V1.11 you will need to re-add them manually, then it will work.

What problems would I see by importing previous settings? What the heck is the use if it wouldn't work right after a firmware update?

Hi,

Up thru v1.05 I had zero problems importing my settings from the previous version.  Now with this 1.11 I can't even import them back from its own save, so something is very not right.

By not being able to import from a save of the same version, it implies that the save is corrupted, because it imports the old save from v1.05....its like they modified the save file structure and forgot to modify the import routine....

Now how could that have happened ?

Many people are having this issue.  See these other threads on this topic.  DLink seems to have some serious QC issues with their firmware.

It would be nice if DLink would respond to this issue.
