Intel 6200 802.11N Slow Link Speed
« on: June 16, 2010, 11:52:47 AM »

I have a D-Link DIR-825 router (firmware 2.03NA) broadcasting 5GHz, Wireless N, Auto 40/20, WPA2-AES.

My old laptop which contains a Dell 1505 wireless card links at 270mbps and rarely drops to 243mbps.

My new Dell laptop with an Intel 6200 wireless card links mostly at 108mbps but varies between 54 to 162mbps.  It initially links at 270mbps but drops the speed within a second.  I once saw the link at 216mbps, but it dropped once I accessed the internet.

I timed the two laptops copying a large file from our network and the old laptop is about 50% faster.

Both laptops have signal strengths greater than 90%.

Both laptops have 40MHz channel bandwidth enabled.

I have the newest Intel drivers installed,  Dell checked my settings and sent me a replacement card, and D-Link Tech Support is mystified.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Problem solved.

I exchanged the laptop for a Dell with the Dell 1520 (Broadcom BCM4322) wireless card.

I now get speeds of 243 and 270mbps.
