I bought a dir 655 router and I have a Dell laptop with a 1505n wireless card that goes up the 270 300 speed  I have tried everything now to see this connection and I can still only see a 130 speed connection.....  I have read the settings spec on this board and still can not get this I think my 624 was faster.  The only differance is that this has a gig ethernet ports.  I seem not to ever get an answer from dlinks suport   any idea's  also this beta firmware I dont really want to try it unless dlinks states it does not void there warrenty

With the DIR-655 (only 2.4GHz) you will only see 130 Mbps on certain WiFi cards (i.e. Intel 4965).   You need a router with "n" and 5 GHz to get the around 300 Mbps.  I think the only chip that may connect to the DIR-655 is an Atheros chip (same brand used in the DIR-655).

OR

Get the DIR-855 which is dual band and is one of the few routers that can operate at 5GHz and 2.4GHz simultaneously.

Why would I get another router when the 655 is advertise

It does get the 300 speed when working with other DLink hardware.  Remember that N is still a "draft" standard so some companies are achieving the speed one way and others are using other methods. If a card was built to achieve 300 speed by using both the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies then you need a router that does the same thing to get your 300 speed.

The Intel and Broadcom adapters should not achieve the 300 N. Intel does not support our channel width that makes the 300N do-able. Instead Centrino requires lower power consumption, and thusly limits the devices ablity.

the 1505 adapter's monitoring utility sees D-655 as 270 in 20/40 mixed mode.  when I switch to 20 only (as recommended in one of the threads), it sees network speed as 130 only.  I will dig up and post some details about 1505 adapter.  it's not intel made, but not sure about the chipset.

THe dell 1505n wireless card I was told is not intel it is from broadband and operates on the 40 channel range  also .  So to achive this I have to buy the dlinks express card that goes with the dir-655 ?....i

Well after talking to dell and dlinks I had to fix tis on my own i had to change the seetings in the ard to 20/40 option this now allow me to get speeds up to 270 This was a easy fix so I do not understand why no suport people from dell or dlinks knew about how to fix this issue.  But it is fixed now

We weren't informed about the Dell card. I'll find out where that information was gleaned and re-distrubte. The key is the 40 Channel width, and the AES cipher type. I'll look in to it.
