Port forwarding issues
« on: July 05, 2010, 02:20:43 PM »

I mistakenly posted the following in the Beta forum when it should have been here:

"I recently bought a DIR-655.  Everything seems to work fine except  port forwarding.  I tried upgrading to 1.34NA firmware but that didn't help.  Any ideas?"

I also tried setting up a Virtual Server (I think either would meet my needs) but that didn't work either.  I searched with Google and found that some others had not been able to get either of these working either.  Is it a known issue or is there some trick to making it work?

I have the same problem, tried both virtual server & port forwarding to setup an FTP server off a NAS. I can access via FTP with no problems via internal LAN but zero access from outside the network. At first glance I would say that neither port forwarding or virtual server functionality work on this router.

I have successfully set up an FTP server with this router.
Port forwarding does work.
I can access my home FTP from work. Also, I have set up Remote Desktop, both work.

For the server, I use FileZilla server.
For the client, I use FileZilla. But, I have to make the connection "Active", not "Passive".
(Site Manager/Transfer Settings Tab/Transfer Mode/Active)

I hope this helps.
