Problems loading web pages
« on: July 20, 2010, 12:36:52 AM »

I have a Dlink DIR655 and a 100Mbit VDSL connection here in Japan.
I have used the router successfully both in the UK and here in Japan with a different connection.

- The VDSL connection is PPPoE so I have username and pword etc set up on the router. If I try browsing the web connected with the router some pages dont load at all or get stuck, ie frontierville on facebook loads the facebook stuff but sticks when trying to load the game (flash content). The domain names seem to resolve but the page doesn't download.

- I have wired my laptop up to the modem directly and can browse with no issues.
- I have tried different browsers and a windows laptop and the same thing happens.
- I have tried disabling advanced DNS, QoS, traffic shaping, DNS relay, etc and tried both wired and wireless - no difference.
- I have tried OpenDNS for DNS servers - no difference.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why the router could be causing problems with web pages downloading? I am using firmware 1.31 and was using it successfully with the last connection.

It's cool, it's cool....

Lowered the MTU to 1454 and evrything is working perfectly now.
I guess 1492 was too high...

Will try raising it to see how high it can go before it flakes out again.
