As you guys probably know I switch out routers occasionally.  I use D-Link, Linksys, Netgear and Buffalo.

My cheap Buffalo router will give me 3MBPS upload speeds whereas my 4500 will give 1.07 and Linksys 1.70.

Why do you suppose I get double the upload with the Buffalo ($16 refurb) but half to less than half that with my other, "better" routers?

What are using to measure your upload speeds?  Speedtest.net is highly unreliable.  Google sustained speed test for more accurate tests.

Also when you reset the 4500 do not get on the web right away or use any internet device, it will screw up the 4500 upload speed tests.

Here is good website to test, pick the 17.5Meg test and post your results.

OK, I was using manual upload on the DLink, the others, I don't recall.

On the sight that XS suggested I get 1.4 on my Linksys E4200.  I do normally use speedtest.net.

I just wonder why that cheap Buffalo got me double or more the upload speed of my better routers?

The UI of the Buffalo is a love/hate thing.  It's both simpler and harder to use than other UI's.

Has anyone been able to get on XBL and get the update this evening? I wasn't and got some status code. I see that XBL reported having problems too.
