Hard Harry you said you have them all connected at 1000base, same as me. But that does not mean your router will achieve that speed using a lan port.
Exactly! ::grin::
I think the confusion stems from the misconception that you have to pass some kind of test of passing 1000Mbps to be a 1000base connection. That just isn't the case. The standard has nothing to do with transfer rate. Think of it like a electric motor found in drill, and saying it can put out 5000RPM's. That doesn't mean if you connect that motor to a race car it will make the wheels spin 5000 rotations a min. The 1Gbps port on the DGL switches 1billion bits per second. It makes no promise of how much data it can transfer. Like the motor, it just takes the bits (electricity) and switches (spins) at a certain rate.
Also, 1000base is the standard for many other medium besides twisted pair. 1000base-lx are what some of the backbones are based of, and some of them can get speeds of 1-2GBps.
And yea, ask any questions you want. Don't mean to be bossy with my opinions. Its just this is some of the stuff I been having to wrap my brain around over the last couple of months. Its becoming less and less fun as my brain slowly starts to melt. :-)
