Is there seriously no way of having a 360 headset without having a cord connected to the controller? What is the point of having a wireless controller, and then needing a wire to your mic? Or, in my case, I want to go wired. So I have to go HDMI from 360 to TV, audio connectors from 360 to Amp, USB from AMP to 360, and wire from controller to amp? On my PS3 I can use any bluetooth or driver-less USB headset. Why was this not fixed by the...5th version of the 360? ::end rant::

I could be wrong but I think Turtle Beach makes a wireless headset.  I use a wireless earpiece made by Microsoft and got it back in 2009.

Router question. . . Do any D-Link routers have the ability to use MAC address filtering to add devices to a network? My DIR-615 only has exclusionary filtering, which creates a list of devices to exclude from the network -- which IMHO has limited value since it's easier to develop a complete list of devices with access than to develop a list of everyone you want to keep out.

I was surprised when my DIR couldn't do this, as it's a common feature on Linksys and Netgear.

Far as I know it's only meant to manage devices on or off the network depending on what you set up for each MAC.

Hmm. The DIR-615 only has the ability (at least w/ my current FW) to exclude devices based on MAC. . . which I always thought was odd. Was curious if newer D-Link routers expanded the functionality to "include"

I've learned that the 600 series is a pretty low end router and I feel IMO that marketing has something to do with what features went into these routers. They are great routers, don't get me wrong, I think it's just that they were meant for low management and configuration for the home users. If you want and need more features and management, then something better would be available. I got a 4500 still...

I've learned that the 600 series is a pretty low end router and I feel IMO that marketing has something to do with what features went into these routers. They are great routers, don't get me wrong, I think it's just that they were meant for low management and configuration for the home users. If you want and need more features and management, then something better would be available. I got a 4500 still...

I'm the first to admit that of all the routers (and brands) I've cycled through, my DIR-615 is the ONLY router that's ever worked well for me and it's the MOST STABLE router I've ever owned. Before purchasing a DIR-615 I used to cringe every time I had to access my network, not knowing if I was going to have access to my NW devices or Internet connectivity.

I Think the 615 is a great router and most of DLinks are. I do believe, IMO, that there are a few that aren't.  However, you can ask others about there experiences here and there and you might find that trusting others opinions about other routers should help with your concerns about using other routers here. And besides, we got your back.

Basically either works in Off, White list, Black list. Meaning, in white list mode, it stops everyone except those you add to the list, in Black list mode, it blocks only those Mac address you add. The later isn't very useful security wise, because all you have to do is change your mac address, or just use a wireless adapter and your in. White list is better, but remeber, your only keeping them from aquiring DHCP. If they are set to static, I don't think MAC filtering does anything. Also, if they already have a DHCP lease, it doesn't do anything, not even at renewal. Just FYI

My hardware version is C1 -- it's on my signature below
Firmware version predates the emulator.

The main thing that gets me with the MAC address filtering is that (at least on the DIR-615), the filtering applies to wired and wireless. Every other brand of router has a wireless MAC address filter, which is more useful on a home network which typically has 100% control over the wired ports, but 0% control over wireless leaching.

I've had this router for a couple of years now and ended up using WEP, so the MAC filtering isn't really important at the moment, but it was when I first purchased the router.

No way am I touching the FW on a stable router (as per Furry's advice).

The 4500 MAC address filtering happens on wired/wireless also.  On my Juniper SSG-5 the MAC address filtering would only effect wireless and not touch the wired.

When I first configured the 4500, I was hooked up via wired to it and locked myself out, ROFL.  I had to reset it and made sure to add my wired addy in..
