Hello,

I have dns 323 with 2x1To raid1 hard drive. I want use these HD in two volume and keep data in one HD. I don't have external HD to backup my data. Can I migrate without lost my data in my case?

You would need to turn off the DNS-323 and take one of the hard drives out. Attach it to your computer either directly or by using an external USB enclosure. Then, if you are using Windows, you will need either of these tools to read the Linux ext2/3 partitions:

The EXT2IFS software at fs-driver.org doesn't work on Windows 7.

Then, using the DNS-323 web interface, format and convert the remaining drive to a standard drive. Once this is done, use your computer to copy the data from the removed drive back to the DNS-323.

Once this has been done, remove the partitions/zero the removed drive before re-inserting in to the DNS-323. This is important, otherwise will likely confuse the DNS-323 in to thinking you've inserted part of a RAID array.

In case you do not want to use the mentioned tools to read the Linux partitions, you can do the following:

1) Copy your files through the DNS-323 to your computer.
2) Format both drives as two separate disks.
3) Move the copied files (in step 1) to one of your newly formatted drives.

Hi, thank you for the answer. Because my bad english speack you don't understand my first post. I , i have not enouth free disk space on my computer to backup all DNS323's data

Finally, I do this:

1/ I remove the DNS323's left disk
2/ I plug this disk in my PC and format it in NTFS
3/ Copy data from DNS323 to My computer
4/ Format DNS323's right disk in single volume
5/ Copy data from my computer to DND323
6/ And plug the left disk and format in second single volume

That would work too, but would have taken longer. I don't think you fully understood my suggestion - you wouldn't have needed any extra capacity.

I read again your post and you're right but the both ext drivers aren't certified for windows 7 64bits...

For what it's worth - there is a much simpler way - remove either one of the disks from the DNS-323, format the remaining one as a standard volume and then replace the one that was removed.

Won't the one that was removed have information on the system partitions identifying it as part of a RAID array?

Well, I don't see how that works hence the question.
Personally, I'd rather have each disk with the correct mode information stored on it.
