Author Topic: Is there a Vista backup and restore product that works with dns-323 -FW 1.08  (Read 2799 times)

Prior posts to this list indicate that users were having problems getting the Vista Backup and Restore feature to work with their DNS-323.  Based on the dates I am guessing they were using an earlier FW release.  Is there a different Vista Backup and Restore software product that works well with this unit?

We have Norton 360 Backups being written to Volume_1.  It appears that these files are not compatible with rsync and thought it might be best to see if others have found something that works.

As always, thanks for any suggestions.

Vista comes with its own Windows Backup utility doesn't it? And perhaps a newer version nowadays. You could just update your firmware and try it and see if it works for you. Or you could use the "robocopy" command line program which is like rsync is to Linux. Or there's Microsoft SyncToy. I prefer robocopy for its lightweight footprint and simple application. A word of warning though, you will need to use the "/FFS" parameter if you use robocopy to sync with the NAS.
