yeah, I have 2 DNS-323 (rev A and B), using firmware 1.09 and beta 1.10 .. firmware support for dlink is bad..

just bought 2 quad buffalo linkstation (V series), firmware update are frequent.. for now, i am a happy buffalo linkstation user..

Personally, for the price, I find it an excellent unit and now have 3. It does exactly what I need it to do.

Even if dlink are giving up on the DNS323, I wish they would just finish off doing the 1.10 firmware and then say they are calling it quits. 

This going forward to FW 1.10 to format discs and then reverting to FW 1.08 to operate them is cumbersome (and in the venacular 'doing my head in!)

If you follow the train of this thread, it will be obvious why I will never buy another DLINK product.

In my view, they are holding back the v1.10 firmware upgrade to force us to buy a new device.  Well, it worked...  I'm upgrading to a competitor's product.

If d-link do not release v1.10 firmware soon I will be forced to upgrade to another device as well and if you think it's going to be a d-link device......well think again.

I am using Jcards firmware now. Installation was a bit tricky, but finally I made it.

It's 5 years old, how is that the "short road".

For firmware - yes, I think thats a short road !. The unit has served me well, but the experience with Dlink on this product and some others has led down a different road. Seeing my friends synology 2 bay device, makes me want to change as soon as funds allow ! full gui, no bugs etc etc...

I am running Jcards Alt-F 0.1B7 since a few days and I 've won the following experiences so far:

- a little more complicated web interface (you must read and understand what you want to do)
- much more and detailed adjustment options
- wide variety of usable file formats, even interchangeable (ext2 to ext4, convertible)
- nice Samba and nfs integration
- powerful user and directory management
- better energy options (now I cannot even hear my DNS-323 when it is n sleep mode)
- great choice of installable packages (from funplug and Alt-F)
- overall a lot more features than from DLink
- up to date kernel compared to DLink version

The author jcard has already announced a version with GPT handling. This means that the DNS-323 can handle hdds > 2 TB ) I can say the firmware is more reliable as the latest beta from DLink and as stable as the actual stable version 1.09.

Thank you Jcard, shame on you DLink.

just forget it , the last person who was a little help and get things to go forward for us was the user D-Link Multimedia and he left. Now no one from D-link is reading this ...the DS-323 is a dead product.

our only option is to run Alt-F if we want something more
