TIME settings spooky!
« on: September 03, 2010, 01:05:06 AM »

Despite my other problems w/ this EXPENSIVE PIECE OF "ITEM" .. http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=14562.0

i noticed another strange issue:
Every now and then i have to SET the date .. specially when the router's been off for a while (when im testing my TPLINK router).. and sometimes even if it's on (over few nights).. i notice my logs gets outdated and when i check the TIME settings it's wrong. i had to re-set the date 3 times already just this week.

im on 1.22NA and dont see the point in upgrade to 1.23 when there's only couple of changes that doenst help /describe my issue.

I would suggest that you enable NTP and select an NTP server or enter your preferred one. This way, even if your router is rebooted, it gets the accurate date and time.

Yes follow what this user suggested you, I have done the same ever since I got the router. This has always been a problem for me to, Until I just set the server. But you maybe ask yourself, Wait how do I get there? Well it is simple! Once you have loged into the router interface, Navigate to: TOOL > TIME than the highlighted AUTOMATIC TIME CONFIGURATION

Enable NTP Server : Checked
NTP Server Used : ntp1.dlink.com <<  (Select other ones)

I would recommend using time.nist.gov. It's where everyone gets the full accurate time sync. These guys maintain the atomic clocks we use for time synchronization.

Not to one up the "The Fuzz" but you may want to check out

http://tf.nist.gov/tf-cgi/servers.cgi

I mean it doesn't REALLY matter, since for the amount of bandwidth your using, the server could be in china and it would work just the same, but to the geek in all of us..it matters. Hehe

Seriously though, Props, because I forgot I had mine set to the default. Eeeew, default, how uncool. hehe

thats why you need to look at the link with your broswer, bottom left corner before clicking..if the URL displays something different then you might not want to click on it. LOL. Have a great rick and roll weekend.  ;D
