LAN connections drop but wireless remains up
« on: November 12, 2010, 09:55:56 PM »

Dlink 655, Firmware 1.34.

I have a NAS connected to my Dlink router.  DHCP IP address range x.x.x.102 to x.x.x.110.  The NAS is configured to have a static IP address of x.x.x.101.  NAS is configured to automatically shut off at night.  When it does, all hard wired connections to the router do not work -- e.g. my desktop connected to the router by ethernet cable cannot ping anything on the network or even the router.  The odd thing is that all wireless devices are still able to access the router and the Internet.

I can shut down a computer connected to the router and other devices connected to the router by ethernet cable still work and can access the Internet.

Why does a shutdown of the NAS connected to the router cause other devices connected by ethernet to lose connection but wireless devices are unaffected?

Thanks,
JL

Hi JL,

Do you have an FTP Server configured for the NAS? I know when the D-Link DNS-323 shuts down, it does not cause anything else to happen, except to get unable to connect to Mapped Drives.
