Cordless phone makes wifi drop momenarily.
« on: December 09, 2010, 12:16:14 PM »

I am having an issue with my router DIR655 that is driving me insane.

I have an ipod touch that is continuously streaming a radio station to my home audio system. This ipod is connected via WIFI.

The problem that I have is every time i grab my house cordless phone it kills the wifi momentarily, this causes the ipod to stop streaming.

I have tried every single channel 1 through 11 and still get this problem.

Any ideas ?

Your phone is probably on the 2.4 GHz frequency and interfering with the router wireless signal.  The easiest thing to do is change to a different frequency phone.  I run a 5.8 GHz phone system and have no issues with phone and wireless.

Thank you for the reply. I assumed that is the problem. As I had issues with my old Lynksys router as well, however after changing channels on the router the issue never occurred again.

Unfortunately with the dlink router no matter what channel I choose I get the interference.

Looks like I might have to upgrade my house phones :)
