DIR-655 dead
« on: May 13, 2008, 05:41:27 PM »

My DIR-655 died on me.

Yesterday, I forwarded a port in the settings, then it asked to reboot, so i click Reboot Now.
After it rebooted, the configuration became the default one. so I tried restoring it with a configuration file that i had saved before. after the reboot, i cannot access the router anymore. the dhcp does not work, so my computer has no ip address. I tried manually configuring my computer's ip to 192.168.0.100, subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.0.1. But i still cannot access it. Now it is just a dead router.

What can I do?

Hi Krovax ,

Did you try doing a Factory Reset and then reenter all the settings manually? In other words, after the Factory Reset, resync the Router to the Cable Modem.

By factory reset, you mean holding the reset button for 10 seconds?
I tried that but it has no effect at all, it does not reset it.

Happened to me, just hope it's under warranty. Call about having it returned immediately, sent mine in and it works fine now.

I'd like to know the answer as well.  Mine died today after turning on ddns again.  I'm pretty sure it's still under warranty but it'll be a nightmare to find the receipt.
