Help configuring my DIR-655
« on: December 20, 2010, 06:29:05 AM »

So I've had this router for probably 2 years and haven't really had any complaints until recently.  It's not even really a problem with the router, but with the use my network gets.  I have 2 computers upstairs, 1 wired and 1 wireless, 1 PC downstairs wired, my phone runs over IP, and I also have a PS3 wired and Wii wireless that the kids stream Netflix on.  Since getting Netflix setup for the kids, everything else on my network has really bogged down.  When gaming on my PS3, I constantly get connection interuptions and when that happens, I have the kids shut down Netflix and my gaming is much better.  I've also started getting dropped and missed calls on my home phone.  I called tech support on the phone and they said I should setup my phone connection on or in a DMZ of the router to bypass the router basically.  Not sure about that, but is that something I can do on this router?  I was also told that I might need to throttle down the wireless or the connection to the Wii so it doesn't use as much bandwidth.  Once again, is that something that can be done on this router?  Thanks for any suggestions you have.

Easy setup

1) first after logging in, take note of the ip address assigned to the ps3 at the bottom of the screen on status->device info
2) go to that page shown there in the picture
3 ------------------------------------------------------------------
*type the local ip range from the ps3s ip to the ps3s ip
*click both protocols
*set priority to 255 (means that this traffic will only go through if nothing else is waiting, all other traffic goes before this stuff gets sent)

DMZ is a function that is available on the DIR-655 but if you search through the threads on this forum, I believe that you will find that it is not functional (on 1.3X firmware releases...)
