finiteman, et al.

I purchased a DAP-1522 and hooked it up in my front room to a computer I use as a media server and an xbox 360. I connected wirelessly to a dir-655 in my back room (via WPA2). The DIR-655 I had for about a week before the 1522 and it has worked well and impressed me... the point of buying both was for this wireless connection.

I've run into similar bandwidth issues with signal connections of 70+ and connection speeds of 167+ (as reported by the DIR-655). I'm getting, at most, 2Mbps transferring files from the server in the front room. I've also tried QOS, SPI, WISH off/on and various connection speeds and hard-setting channels, n-only speeds, etc. Nothing I've tried has improved the situation.

It's faster for me to re-download a file via the net than to transfer from the server.

It would be nice to hear from Dlink on this issue.

I'll go ahead and replicate one of these transfers.
Someone please list all details of the issue and I'll replicate.

we should all start sharing our settings for trial and error to help each other find the best settings for maximum performance.

This is the best I can tweak so far.

DIR-655 with ANT24-230 antenna
802.11n only
WPA2 only – AES
Auto 20/40 MHz channel width
WISH and QoS default values

Connecting to a DAP-1522 in bridge mode, auto 20/40 MHz channel width

Using Speakeasy speed test (http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/) to measure internet download/upload speeds, and using DIR-655 wireless status to measure transmission rate and signal quality

(ISP delivers 10 Mbps download -  512 kbps upload)

At a 4 foot distance from router to DAP-1522 bridge, with laptop connected to bridge:

300 Mbps rate     100% signal (as reported by the DIR-655)
Download 6.5-7.3 Mbps
Upload  447 kbps

Compared to the router at a 4 foot distance to a laptop computer with DWA-652 wireless notebook adapter (direct wireless connection, no bridge)
300 Mbps rate     100% signal (as reported by the DIR-655)
      Download 9.8-9.9 Mbps
      Upload  467 kbps

At a 45 foot distance from router to DAP-1522 bridge:
162-216 Mbps rate  100% signal (as reported by the DIR-655)
   Download  2.5-3.6 Mbps
   Upload 420-460 kbps

At a 45 foot distance from router to laptop with DWA-652 wireless adapter (no bridge) for comparison
240 Mbps rate 100% signal (as reported by the DIR-655)
   Download 9.8 Mbps
   Upload 477 kbps

I’ve found the DAP-1522 is VERY sensitive to it’s orientation and distance to the router antenna.

YES, bengel, I'm hoping so !!

After updating the DAP-1522 firmware to version 1.02, I'm seeing download speeds of 9.8 mbps (2X-3X improvement)  at a reported transmission rate of 108-162 mbps and 100% signal quality !! (and that's at 45 feet from DIR-655 to DAP-1522).  I left the DIR-655 firmware unchanged at version 1.11, all settings the same as before.

Any idea if they are ever going to update the 1555 firmware. Would be nice to have a thread for this model as well.

Seriously, no stock on the item anywhere.  Dlink's store even shows no stock.  A product people want and can't get it, why is it always like this?  Those of you who have one, where did you purchase?
