I am having the same problem but with a wired connection. I always gets Internet Connection: Disconnected under network settings. If i try to force a check for an update under system options, I get the following message:
"The Device Could Not Download Updates"
"System Updates could Not check for updates because of a network problem. Please check your network connections."

The router I am using is a D-Link ebr-2310 Hardware Ver: a2 Firmware: 1.05

I have added the IP of the DSM-750 to the DMZ with the same results. I use TVersity to browse my material, but have used D-Links Media Server also, and both work with no problems.  Do I possibly have a defective unit? I know there was an issue with some using windows media center and the extender feature, but I don't use that, so I am not sure if it could be related to the same problem. Thanks.

PS I also have a DSM-520 that is using a wired connection. It connects to the internet with no problems and can find it's updates when available.

Bee-iLL it may be related to setup issue. without trouble shooting I cannot say you may want to contact technical support it can then be determined if the unit is defective.

Shows connected correctly now with the new firmware update which it was able to download with no problems. Must have been an issue with the shipped firmware.

Did you upgrade your DIR-655 to the lastest firmware (1.20), is security set to WPA-AES on both the router and DSM-750?????

Yeah that is the issue we are looking into it is when using WPA wireless security. It should be OK with WEP or none.

How did you install the latest firmware when you are disconnected from the internet?

I am unable to connect to the internet to perform the latest firmware update.  Further, I cannot find any alternate method on the DSM-750 to install the update.  I was dumbfounded to discover that there isn't an alternate method other than the internet.  It is hard to understand why one can't copy the firmware update file to a USB disk and install it from there.

My DSM-750 is wired directly to an access point on a Linksys WRT600n.  The firewall is disabled.  I also have a DSM-520 and I never experienced any problem with updates even over a wireless connection.

You have 2 options:

1. Have a wired connection and update your DSM-750
2. Switch your wireless to WEP and then update your DSM-750

I used the first option to update the firmware

As I stated in my post, I am already directly wired to an access point on the router!  The DSM-750 refuses to connect to the internet for updating although other programs in the Windows Media Center have no problem accessing the internet.  I think this is a major bug in DLink's firmware.  What is most irritating is that no other option is provided, e.g. putting the firmware code on the USB storage.

In fact you can install it from a USB drive. You have to unzip the .zip file and put both of the files from the .zip onto the USB drive. You will then see an option in the medialounge main menu saying "new firmware update" or something like that.

That's how I updated my firmware, download firmware from here; http://support.dlink.com/products/view.asp?productid=DSM%2D750.
