Anyone else unable to login to router with Firefox?
« on: July 10, 2008, 04:48:44 AM »

Yes, I know Firefox is not supported.  I'm not really looking for a solution here, since it's a minor issue at best.  Just curious to know if I'm the only one with this problem.

Since upgrading to Firefox 3.x, I can't login to the router.  This problem occurs on both Windows XP and Mac OS X (running both via dual bootloader on a new MacBook Pro), with both versions of Firefox 3.x.  The internet is fully accessible and all seems normal.  But, when trying to access the router (after typing in the password), I simply get a message saying "the network connection seems to be down".  However, logging in with Safari (Mac) or Internet Explorer (Windows) works fine.  I should add that I'm wireless and have not tried access via ethernet cable.

Like I said, this issue is so minor it hardly bears mentioning.  Maybe I should take up a hobby instead of wasting time and bandwidth posting such things.  Simply wanted to know if others had the same experience, since my forum search attempts yielded no similar reports.

Hi All,

While not wanted to make any changes since the Router is working just fine, I just used FireFox 3.0 Release to log into the Router's Settings with no problems whatsoever.

Of course, I don't allow FireFox to remember any passwords. I use RoboForm and it automatically filled in the Username and Password and logged in just fine.

Make sure that FireFox does not save Passwords.

Actually, Firefox has never saved my router password.  It never even asks.  I have to type it in every time.  It's the only login/password situation where Firefox doesn't offer to save the info.  Never bothered to look into why that is, since it seems a prudent security measure.

So, I still have no idea what's causing the login problem and, thus far, no one else has chimed in with a "me too".  I'm growing concerned that this may be an isolated incident.  Sigh... I touched something I shouldn't have.  I just know it.  Perhaps I didn't water it enough or give it the proper amount of direct sunlight...

Previous versions of DownloadHelper caused some issues with the login page. Maybe you have DownloadHelper with the issue, and if that's the case update to the newest version.

Hi gonif,

I can confirm this action that FireFox does not remember or offer to remember the Password to the Router's Settings.

However, as a Test, I made a minor change in the Router to begin to broadcast the SSID Signal Name. The Router rebooted and I lost the Internet and connection to the Router, because I am on a Wireless Connection, but once the connection was reestablished, the setting was showing that I am Visible and I confirmed it, by using Internet Explorer 7 and logging into the Router's Settings and viewing it.

So while FireFox does not remember the Password, the Settings can be changed using FireFox Browser. I am using FireFox 3.0 release.

I can confirm that I too am not able to log into the router with FF 3.0, so you are not alone.  I just use IE7 for that purpose, or IE Tab within FF, which *does*work.

What JaLooNz says is correct. I had to disable DownloadHelper in order to log on to the router with Firefox 3.

FF 3.01 works perfectly for me, on Windows and Mac.  Has to be a addon causing it, try opening firefox safe mode version, and see if it works then.

Exactly the same here.  IE Tab works fine.
