Hi I have a few questions if you don't mind.

I have the D-Link DIR-655 H/W Ver: A2. I know this is a really stupid question, but I haven't used it in a few years so I believe the latest firmware I have is 1.31. I want to get the latest firmware, so should I install each one after until I reach the latest, or do I just need to select the latest (questions is, are all the previous firmwares included in the latest?).

Also, I know there have been different models released for the DIR-655. I have the H/W Ver.:A2. Which one is the latest H/W Ver? So what new features are included in the latest that aren't included in mine? Would it be worth it to upgrade? If not this one, then which router from D-Link is the fastest? I'm getting the Xbox 360 Wireless N Adapter so I'm not afraid to pay more for a new router so I can get the fastest connection possible (no lag and full bars).

Thank you for your time,
Mike.

I've been enjoying the DGL-4500 for gaming for years now. Love it. Working on trying to get a 3rd one. hehe. I do recommend the 4500 for gaming though.

For gaming you can't beat a wired connection @ 100 Mbps even if it's wireless N your using. Also matters what internet service you have. You need to have IMO at least 20 - 30 Mbps downlaod for lag free gaming. I get 25 Mbps from Verizon FIOS and my gaming is lag free even with a B router using it's 100 Mbps ports. Remember you only get what you pay for. I'm paying for 25 Mbps so even with my wireless router out putting 300 Mbps I'm only using 25 of that 300.

While the A2's aren't the newest hardware version they seem to be the ones with the least amount of issues.  I have an A2 that I bought Oct 2007 that runs like a top.  I have the current 1.35NA firmware on it.  There were no new features released with the different hardware version, only a change in the components inside.

I concur on the A2 hardware, which is what I have.....

I liked FW: 1.21 quite a bit, but I finally moved to 1.34 and now have the 1.35 and it seems pretty stable.  We have a full compliment of various LAN using hardware here (as home networks go) both wired and wireless.

I have moved as much to .11N for wireless as possible, and run only G/N for wireless...sorry old nintendo DS...

I use a Motorola SB6120 for my cable modem which has a 1Gb port to the router (the LED turns blue for the Gb link....ooooo ahhhhh)

I think the 655 runs quite well for gaming.  We have several 360's and several PC's that game online and I have had no reports of issues from the kids....The 360's are connected thru HomePlug v1.0 Powerline adapters which are only 14 Mbps rated.....  I also have a couple wireless devices running thru two different TrendNet TEW-647GA units (from newegg) with very good results....
