1.20 FW causing VOIP issues
« on: July 29, 2008, 02:19:33 PM »

My wife uses an Altigen phone for her telecommuting. After upgrading to 1.20 callers cannot hear her. I took a look at the logs and the 655 seems to be blocking outgoing packets on port 1720 with some kind of h.323 ALG error. I have re-entered the port forwarding for the device to no avail, turned off the sip ALG and placed the phone in the DMZ and changed the endpoint filtering to unrestricted all of which also had no effect other than to introduce other VOIP problems. When I revert back to 1.11 all is well. Is this an issue with the new FW? Can anyone suggest a workaround?

I read on this forum that one wasn't able to revert back to the previous firmware.  How did you do it?  What's up, what am I to believe?

First off, I have a revA3.

The new .gws file created by 1.20 is not compatible with 1.11 and will fail if you try to load it. Backup your settings with 1.11 first, then if you need to downgrade use that file to restore it. As always YMMV.

My question is what changed in 1.20 that causes the 655 to block outgoing packets on port 1720, with references to the h.323 ALG that is not accessible via the interface? Why is the router blocking ANY outgoing packets?
