D-View Cam 3.1.1 on Windows 7-64 Bit

My D-View Cam 3.1.1 software will only work on Windows 7-64 bit if I turn my UAC off. Is there are work around if I want to keep my UAC on?

Sorry, seems to be hard-wired coded in at startup. In previous versions you could place storage of images/video on a non-protected location and then switch UAC back on, but 3.11 is adamant you have UAC off, even if you do not need it.

So, alas, not with 3.11 as of yet. Still trying to find a work-around on both Vista 32/64 and Win7 32/64 for 3.11...

This problem is not related to 32- or 64-bit.

Thank you! I spent a lot of time trying to fix this last night. After posting this, I called tech support and they told me UAC must be turned off or as an alternative, use a computer with a different OS.

 >:(  So let me get this straight.  Because of a defect in a D-Link product in which programmers hard-coded something to save data files in a restricted programs area (vs. My Documents like any normal app) *AND* they've now hard-coded the system to check to see if UAC is turned off I have to expose my computer to security risks?  Wow, talk about willful intent to cause harm to my system...  Since D-Link has recommended this to their users they now own liability for any damages such recommendation has caused.  :O)

You got it right in one go.

But even with UAC on can you use the "VirtualStore" location, supported by Vista and Up. Any writing done to 'unmentionables' (i.e. Program Files) is really done in this area, so UAC can stay on, just requesting (once) permission at startup... Like it was in previous versions of DViewCam...

The VirtualStore is found in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local, and contains quite a lot for other programs...

My guess is version 4 or 5... It seems D-Link is unable to get this one right. Since 3.x they introduced this 'feature', and it looks like it is here to stay, for now...

Im concerened as well about the UAC problem , but i have another question since this is the only "current/active " info i could find . Ive been using Dview cam software and suffering through it for years ....

I have Win 7 64 bit as well , 3.1.1 with all 3 cams running with motion alerts etc . Problem is the intervals for alerts , i turned sensitivity to lowest and there still snapping 50 a minute ! is there another setting im missing for extending interval between captures ... at least to 30 secs ?

Just got off of the phone with D-Link support. I am running Win7 64 Bit, and the software will not open. After discussing the problem with support, it became obvious that they didn't have a clue how to fix the problem. They TOLD ME TO CALL MICROSOFT! I explained that all other software was working except theirs. The final resolution was to RETURN THE THREE CAMERAS I PURCHASED and buy SOMETHING THAT REALLY WORKS!

The D-ViewCam 3.20 released now officially support Win7 64bit Operating systems.
