first, thank you for your reply.

I'm really sorry but my window copy is completely fine, genuine and not corrupt at all I'm pretty sure that this not going to solve the problem since other software and especially IM programs run completely normal...

there simply has to be another solution for this...

Hi thodi,

I never ran into your problem.

Questions: Are you logging into the same User ID on each computer from Windows Live Messenger?
Is each computer on your Home Network, belonging to the same Workgroup but the computer name is different?
On each computer, do you use the same User ID name?

Have you configured Network and Sharing Center on each computer that has it, configuring both Home and Public, realizing the Windows XP that may be on your Home Network, is foreign to Windows 7 Versions.

Are each computers' operating systems, fully patched, including optional Software that is available.

One option you can try, check your local electronics store for there return policy. If they will do a full refund, I would get a different router, Something not DLink and check to see if you exhibit the same issues. Might help narrow down whats going on. Seems kind of extreme but does help. You might also try your current router at a friends place and see if they exhibit the same issue on there system if they install WLM 2011 as well.

all questions no except the last one, (the xp computer doesn't even have wlm installed)
i'm sure it has something to do with the network traffic or signals sent from wlm 2011 when logging in and these cause either somekind of network overflow which causes the router to stop working correctly or there is some specific signal the router can't take and causes it to break down connectivity... I'm sure it is not just us two having that problem and since wlm 2011 is pretty new there will be more people having that problem (as long as there's no new version of wlm 2011 fixing that problem)

Was curious, is WLM 2011 supported on XP?

Windows Live Essentials 2011 requires the following:

Operating system: 32- or 64-bit version of Windows 7, or Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 and the Platform Update for Windows Vista, or Windows Server 2008 R2, or Windows Server 2008 with Service Pack 2 and the Platform Update for Windows Server 2008.

I will give this a try when I get home tonight.

Hey everybody again...

I did try a couple of things again, but with no result...
I changed both UDP and TCP to 'endpoint independent' but that didn't work...

And now I'm very sure that the router causes the problem..
I'm a student so when I was at my university I tried to login overthere and there were no problems at all.
I could succesfully login while my laptop was connected to the network of my university.

It looks like I should call someone frome D-link...

Hi fraggle89,

What is the Hardware Revision of your D-Link DIR-655 Router?

Does this happen with a different router?

Hardware version: A4 / Firmware version: 1.31EU

Hi fraggle89,

Not saying that this is going to fix it, but it is worth a shot.

Do a Factory Reset on the D-Link Router and manually reenter all the information, instead of restoring it. It may make a huge difference.

Hold in the Factory Reset for 20 seconds and release the button.

Hey there,

It has been quiet here for a while ;) I did try some things, but without succes.
Meanwhile, my Internet Provider has given me a new modem.
Since I installed this modem I dindn't have any problems anymore with WLM '11.
So it means that my modem was causing the problems, not my d-link router.

For that reason this topic can be closed.
Thanks all for your support!

Grtz,
Fraggle
