Has anyone successfully installed 1.5 TB Seagate Drives in the DNS-343?  I just installed QTY 4 - 1.5 TB Seagate drives in the DNS-343.  The device sees the drives, but when I attempt to format the drives in a RAID 5 config, the total capacity of volume_1 is only showing approx. 80 GB of usable storage.  I contacted D-Link support and they suggested I first format the drives as stand alone drives, and then configure them in a RAID 5.  Doing this gave me the same results - only about 80 GB of usable storage.

Any suggestions / advice would be greatly appreciated.

Currently 1.5TB drives can not be formated as anything other than Standard Volumes in the DNS-343. Next firmware 1.03 will allow formats in all configurations.

When do you expect the 1.03 firmware to be released.  Is there a beta version of the 1.03 firmware that we can test?

We purchased the 1.5 TB drives because D-link advertises that the DNS-343 supports "any capacity" SATA drives.  This is rather misleading and you should consider updating your product specs / marketing material.  At this point we have approx. $800.00 worth of 1.5 TB drives that we can't use in your product...

I just talked with Tech Support. Same status. Waiting for 1.03 firmware.  I was able to format each drive as a standard drive with full space available.

I am in the same situation, We spend about $1k on the entire setup and can not use it.   

D-Link please update your product material to be accurate.   

It has been about 3 months since your last firmware update for this product, when will a new fireware be release? Beta?

I, too, purchased 4x1.5 TB drives and I'm very very disappointed they don't work properly with the DNS-343. I'm glad I didn't take the plunge back in October when this topic was started - it's been more than a month! I feel bad for people STILL waiting for that firmware update - but I guess my wait has just begun.

Hurry up, before this $900 purchase turns into a $900 return! Cmon, D-Link!

We have been working on firmware updates for the DNS-343 diligently and could be released as early as Next week depending on how testing goes. We do not release firmwares to fix one item. At the time of release for the product 1TB drives were the highest capacity any consumer could purchase for the device so the statement of "Any Size" held true. Now 1.5TB drives have been available to consumers for about 1 month and we have been working on new firmware the entire time. The device does technically support them in a Standard drive scenario however Raid is not currently supported. I appologize but just like you we did not have access to these drives as they were being developed only after they hit the market and it does take time to verify that drives are working correctly in our devices. Please be patient for a little while longer and you will get your updated firmware and it will work with your 1.5TB drives.
