Not Actually Connecting?
« on: October 30, 2008, 09:38:58 AM »

I've had my router setup for about half a year with no problem.
Yesterday while trying to get online, nothing would connect/load up.

My status shows that I'm connected to the router with full signal.  I then proceeded to restart the laptop which did not help.  Next I tried connecting to the router via ethernet cable, no luck there either.  When I turn the wireless off on the laptop, it does not show a connection at all.

I then proceed to reset the router but still no luck.  It will still show me that I'm connected to the router with a full signal wirelessly but again nothing loads/connects.  Connecting to the router via ethernet cable shows nothing again.

Any ideas?

Verify that your MODEM is properly functioning. May even consider calling up your ISP to confirm your service and make sure there is no outages in your area.

Try connecting your modem directly to your computer and see if you can access the internet.

Try to ping another device on the network (another PC works great).

internally, if you didn't change anything hardware or software wise I'm inclined to believe its an ISP/ modem issue.
