How do I get adapter to 300mbps? Router is set to 20/40.
« on: November 22, 2008, 06:59:29 AM »

I have two Vista 32 desktops (Pentium DC), both 20 feet away from DIR-655. I set router to 20/40 and I get 300mbps for one adapter and only 54mbs in the other.  How do I get the other to 300?  TIA.

UPDATE:

I updated the driver for the adapter on the 54mbps and got it to 300, BUT, when I reboot the computer, it goes back to 54.   I have to disable the device, then enable it to get it back to 300.

Is there a fix so I don't have to disable and re-enable each and every time?  TIA

Hi Lycan,

SP3 is not available for Vista Computers. Service Pack 2 is not out yet.

I missed the Vista statement, are you running SP1 for your Vista machines? What encryption are you running?

Hi Stone,

Do you have a DWA-552 Adapter in each computer? Have you disabled the Ethernet Port in the Computer BIOS on each computer, so only the Wireless DWA-552 is seen by the operating system?

Also, you might like to swap out the Cards between computers. See if the problem stays with the computer or is transferred to the other computer. If transferred, then the Card is bad.
