I am experiencing exactly the same problem?  ???

I am using DIR-655 with firmware 1.20EU and my OS is Vista Ultimate 64 bit. My NIC is D-Link DWA-140 with driver version 1.30 for Vista 64 bit.

Everytime I restart my computer I get the message "Windows needs to install driver software for your Xtreme N Gigabit Router"

Is it the SharePort utility with the DIR-655 router causing this or is it Vista?  >:(

Probably something to do with UPnP.

It's a Windows issue (rare though). A router never needs a driver  :) Perhaps you need to install the driver for the DWA140?

Guys,

First of all, I am already connected to my DIR-655 without any problems and I have 270-300 Mbps connection speed.  ;D So nice to have this hugh improvement over 54Mbps connections... He, he...

So my wireless connection works fine BUT everytime I reboot my PC I get the annoying message that I need to install a driver for my router DIR-655 at my PC that connects to the router?

Lotacus: I am NOT trying to connect to the router via USB... I am already connected via the normal wireless connection... Well, I could agree that since I am using the USB card DWA-140 to connect to the router I am actually connecting via USB to the router eventhough it is actually via WiFI...  ;)

EddieZ: I already have the latest driver for my DWA-140... I am using version 1.30 for Vista 64 bit...

Davevt31: I'll try with disabling UPnp on the DIR-655 router and see what happens

This must be some stupid Microsoft issue on VISTA OS?  >:(

EddieZ: Sorry for my language but I just got so tired of M-c-o-o-t...  :-X

I just got an answer back from D-Link support just telling me to ignore the message...  ??? Without any further explanation of why this message appears...

Anyway, since my WiFI network is running at the expected now after the upgrade of all components to N-standard I am quite happy.  ;D

Great to hear!  :D

Don't blame the Dlink guys for a stupid Windows issue. Hard to avoid, have seen this with other brands too.
