There is a lot more to it, but a lot of Manufacturer routers were vulnerable.
Same thing with computer operating systems.
There are constant problems involving the internet cause of the criminal factions that are out there actively doing everything they can to exploit any security flaw they can expose and they lay lots of traps in the way of infected sites.
As for your chances of having been hit in a three week period, unless your router was left unprotected (factory defaults) I'd say the chances of your data having been exposed and actively gathered via the DNS Exploit is very Slim to Nill.
