Why do I get wireless restart ???
« on: December 25, 2008, 12:06:17 PM »

Hello guys...

I use the DIR-655 with firmware v1.21.

I cannot found how and what does cause the DIR-655 restart it's wireless access.

Sometime, it can go for days without a single drop out and sometime, it restarts multiple time every couple minutes...

I only have one laptop runing on the wi-fi network. My laptop is also listed in the DHCP reservation list so it always get the same LAN ip adress.

Here is a snapshot of the log :

When it restart, of course, I loose the wifi connection on my laptop for around 20~30 seconds. I also do not know why when I am connected and everything works fine, it suddently cannot authenfiate my laptop and that cause a restart also...

Why when everything works, it suddently stop and restart ?

Thanks for your help...

Have you selected a channel in the DIR-655 or is it autoscanning?  I have found that selecting a channel helps prevent my restarts.

AFAIK, Dlink is not the only router manufactorer that suffers from this. Changing channels disrupts most wireless connections. Never trust 'auto' settings  ;)
