I had the same problem after upgrading from 1.05 to 1.06. Part way through copying files from my PC to the DNS-323 I would get the "network path no longer available" message.

After trying various things that made no difference, I reverted back to 1.05 and everything is fine again.

One thing I noticed, that I've not seen mentioned by anyone else, is the colour of the drive lights on the DNS-323. Instead of being bright blue, or even amber to indicate a fault, they would go a pale pinky white colour.... any ideas D-Link?

LED color pinkish is not not a color to determine anything specific by design it seems to be a glitch. I believe when this is seen it is the same an amber LED to determine a fail drive or a drive that is not in Sync. Check the Status page and check your RAID configuration. Is it in sync or degraded?

My 2¢..

I've seen that color of lights when a service on the 323 crashes.  It's one of the reasons how I learned that using the TwonkyMedia v5 server was not working properly and I had to use the v4 server instead.

When I tried to see what was going on via the status screen the drive info was garbled random characters. A few minutes later after a refresh it said it was fine - still had the pink lights though. It appeared that it would be fine after start up for a while, then I would have the problem.

If it was a problem with a service then it would have to be one of the inbuilt ones, UPnP AV server or ftp (I turn Itunes server off) as I hadn't any 3rd party fun plugs installed.

I'm pretty unclear as to what was going on as I reverted to 1.05 FW and everything works fine again - I've since installed Twonky which was really easy.

I did notice that FW version 1.06 stated that it was a beta version, is that the case or did I manage to download the wrong one from the ftp site?

Now, if only my DSM-510 would play FLAC files!!  :(

Where are you downloading from? 1.06 is not beta on the US support website
