Help!!

Recently purchased a DES-1228p and 5 DWL-3140AP's. Configured the switch and attached 2 of the AP's.
Had the help of a D-Link support rep when setting up. Was able to configure off of the network, using a static ip and a laptop. Everything worked fine. A seperate laptop was able to find the AP and connect. Added the switch to the network...it looked good...approx. 10 seconds and the whole network collapsed. Nothing worked.
Help.
Let me know what additional information you need concerning the network design.

Which hardware and firmware version are you using?  If you have an Rev. A2 have you tried the 1.30.17 beta?

Scratch that point about beta firmware.  We should have new stable code available imminently.

Yes that was the first thing i did.
I do have A2 and did update to the .17 Beta software.

What is imminently?
I was hoping to use this system for a point of care system for the hospital were I am employed. The software will be going in the last week of January.
I have everything else in place. Just no wireless.
Any suggestions?

What happens when you factory reset? Did that. Nothing different.

Background.
One firewall.
One Central Switch = DES1252
Various switches (roughly 14 switches) throughout the hospital...98% Dlink managed. Mostly 3226L, and a couple 3010PA.
Could there be some setting on those switches that are causing the bad reaction to the 1228P addition to the network.

Does Dlink help design network layouts?
I'm beginning to think I may need some assistance with my switch configurations and general layout of backbone.
Please advise.

No, but call in to our Business Class line and they will walk through spot fixing this one with you.  The number is 1 877 354 6555.  With a network that large and that level of product it is not impossible layout is the problem but I think we will have a better chance of getting all the relevant details before launch date if we can have a conversation.

Just spoke with Charles at the business support number.
He gave me a case number of TBC400038002.
He said an engineer would be calling me within 24hr.
Is there anything I should have prepared before the engineer calls back?

Yes:
A network map
config files
and a good concise description of the failure.

90% of the difficulty in their calls is getting that information.

How detailed on the map? Is there a good example of one you know of?

At the very least enough of a map to make all of the network infrastructure clear.  Unfortunately I can't send you any good examples I have as they would tend to be customer networks.  The more detailed the better.

It is not impossible, though not my first guess either, that the call may come to the point of wondering if you have a loop by the end of it, so he may have to start looking at phrases like "every wire connected to the DES-1228P" by the end of this.
