Help setting up media center
« on: March 02, 2011, 08:02:29 AM »

I recently purchased the 655 to replace an old Linksys wired router.  I had my system set up great with the old wired router, when I moved, I bought the 655.

I can get the internet on my HTPC and another pc I had wired to the 655.  I can connect to Xbox live with the 655 but it will not allow me to connect to my HTPC.

I also have a DMA-2100 media extender that I can use wirelessly without problem (stutters when I watch HD programming).

When I enter the 8 digit code to add an extender the blue and yellow shield appears by the next button.  Do I need to change a setting on my HTPC?

I recently set up my router for Media Center and use xboxes for extenders. I would setup a DHCP static IP reservation on the router for the Extender.

Also make sure that Enable Multicast Streams is check marked as enabled under Advanced/Advanced Networking.

Make sure your HTPC set correctly setup for networking and recognizing media center services. I would contact the device Mfr for additional help as well.

360 up and running, many thanks.

DMA-2100 sound but no video.  I did not set up a reservation for the DMA.  When I did, it would not connect.

Did you set the DMA networking for automatic or does it still have prior network settings? Sound but no video probably means someting on the DMA isn't right or cabling from that to the tv isn't working. Let us know.
