Thanks for the reply Eddie.  However the PS3 is off 98% of the time.  I have the PS3 setup with a demilitarized ip.  Not sure what else to do here....I just tried what funchords suggested, again, with changing SSID to something completely different and so far it's been up for about 15 mins without a single restart.  So we'll see if that does the trick.  I'll post back.  Let me know if you have any other suggestions.  Thanks again.

Well so much for that.....lasted about 2 hours without a full wireless restart.  I had wireless restart messages in the log, but it didn't say "all wireless shutdown"....a few minutes ago, 2 hrs later.... it started going into full wireless restarts again out of the blue.  This is ******ed.  I can't believe this unit is putting a customer through something like this.  I think I'll have to bite the bullet and get rid of these things and pickup the Linksys routers.  Definitely not worth all these headaches.

If your Setup - Wireless page has "Enable Auto Channel Scan" enabled, I suggest that you disable it.

Sebastian, that's the only way you can get it to work?  With invisible and no security?  If so this is definitely an issue with these routers.  I don't care what anybody says.  There's no way that this many people would have the same common issue.  Hopefully D-Link does something about this.  This is unfair.  Either that or provide refunds to people that bought these units.

so drastic that currently DIR-655 is off and I am exchanging it (maybe a hw issue ?!)

Well people, after fiddling with this some more I think I have found the resolution to the problem.  After giving it some more thought, I found I could get rid of wireless restarts by disabling visibility and removing security.  Well, as most of you may agree, changing two variables doesn't necessarily identify which one solved the problem.  So today I re-added security but left visibility off.  So far I've been up for almost an hour without a wireless restart....no message whatsoever.  I'm not sure why these units cannot broadcast without creating issues, but it may be an apparent solution.  SO right now I have WPA only with AES and visibility off and everything appears to stable.  I will post more results as time goes on to confirm longevity.  If the visibility is the cause then I'd like to know why I can't broadcast without having wireless restarts.  Not that I really care, it definitely makes the system that much more secure.  Would just like to know why broadcasting impacts it this way.  Will keep you posted.

Because one of your clients is set to do AP probing instead of AP scanning.  That's a common issue, although it shouldn't cause a DOS on your AP! (if that's happening, it's a bug and a serious one).

Set your security the way you want it -- change the SSID to something brand new -- erase the stored profiles in your clients -- reboot everything AP and clients -- and reassociate using your clients.  Repeat this every time you change something in the wireless connection parameters and you will avoid such problems.

Funchords, so far I've determined that my wireless restarts will cease if I have the security set to WPA only.  If i choose WPA2 I begin getting wireless restarts.  So far it's been about 3 hours without a wireless restart with these settings.  So I'm hoping this will solve my problems for now.  Not sure what you meant by the client AP probing.  Is that a setting I should be changing on my wireless adapter settings?  Thanks for your feedback.

I am using WPA2 only without the restarts, so perhaps it's another client thing.

Don't worry about it, though -- if it's working, don't "fix" anything.  :-)

Thanks for the reply Funchords.  Unfortunately after a few hours I encountered the exact same problems.  Not sure what else to do...the only thing that seems to work is running it in non-broadcasting mode and completely unsecured.  Hopefully D-Link is watching and something gets done about this.  Thanks.
