two Routers advanced routing help
« on: March 25, 2011, 10:22:08 AM »

Routers 1 Dir655 (HA:A3 FV:1.33) and Router 2 WRT54GS2 (FV:1.0.02)

Router 2 can talk to Router 1 and the other computers, but Router 1 can not talk with Router 2 on the network side, but it can on the internet/wan side.

Router 1 172.16.1.1 subnet 255.255.0.0 on the network and with internet from ISP (don't care)
Router 2 172.16.1.2 subnet 255.255.0.0 on the internet/wan port, and on the network side 172.16.2.1 subnet 255.255.255.240.

ping from Router 2 to Router 1 and you see router/computers fine that works
ping from Router 1 to Router 2 and that works internet/wan side, but can't see the computers on the network side.

I can't get the advanced routing static routing to work on WRT54GS2 Router 2 (errors) or doesn't save
I also can't get the routing to work on Dir655 HA:A3 FV:1.33 to work (errors) or doesn't save (I am doing it wrong)

Can any one help to make this work for i can talk to the other computer from any router please

Thank you,

Hi atomicbreakout,

Where are you located? USA, or another place?

Do you have a Cable Modem or how are you connected to the Internet?

Why have two Routers?
