I recently updated my 825 rev b router to the new 205 NA firmware. Generally, the new software seems to be working fine. However, a few times every hour, online games will pause for a couple seconds and then continue. This can be annoying to say the least.

I'm connecting to the router wirelessly, but I'm not using encryption. I've tried running with and without QOS - doesn't make a difference. Most of the time, I'm connected to the 5GHz radio. However, I have also experienced the game pauses when connected to the 2.4GHz radio.

Please note that I've also connected to another wireless router and experienced no pauses.

Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.

What is your ISP service? Cable or DSL?
What is your ISP modem? Stand alone or built in router?
Try using Single mode G or N?
How was your QoS set up when you had it enabled?

Thanks for your reply. My ISP service is DSL. The modem is a stand-alone "dumb" modem - just a pass through modem. I'm connecting via N on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

For QOS, automatic classification and dynamic fragmentation are enabled.

Traffic shaping and automatic uplink speed are also enabled.

Please note that prior to the firmware update I never experienced these pauses.

I would turn off QoS to test and see if you notice any differences.

I would review the gaming and gamefuel sticky over on the DGL-4500. The UI is a bit different however the data will work for QoS. I would turn off Dynamic Fragmenation as thats meant for slower internet connection speeds. Let us know if you need some help on Setting up QoS.

I have tested with QoS turned off, but I still saw pauses. I'll try disabling dynamic fragmentation and see if that resolves the issue. I'll also check out the sticky.

Just FYI, the QoS and settings you use in there only helps to ensure that your system works well and connects better with your ISP. It does not fully stop lagging seen in various online games. Lag comes from many other sources such as other gamers and there network systems.
