DIR-655 and speed tests on iPhone4 - 14 to 16Mbps max?
« on: April 30, 2011, 10:36:24 AM »

Hi,

I set the DIR-655 to Mixed 802.11n and 802.11g despite the laptops being N because my PS3's are G. My cable package is 25Mbps/1Mbps. Should I not be getting around 22-23 Mbps when on wi-fi, accounting for overhead? I do max out the UL speed of 1Mbps though... Is around 15Mbps pretty much it on wifi with N/G selected for this unit?

I'm testing via several different servers at speedtest.net and 16Mbps is the max I ever achieve.

Oh, yes.. I do max out the 25Mbps on the wired PC's but would like those missing 10Mbps via wi-fi if there's some setting I'm forgetting about or affirmation that's pretty much it with this config... thanks for any insight!  :)

FYI, Wireless speeds differ from wired speeds and connections speeds. Transfer rates will not be seen on wireless. There are many factors in wireless that inhibit seeing actual speeds like you do on wired. Signal quality, connections, distance from devices and external interference.
