Hello everyone my name is Nicole smith, i live in Miami Florida, but currently, have been living overseas, in the Caribbean in the Dominican Republic because of work wise.  a couple of years ago, i bought the D-link DSL 2320b Modem, with the the D-link DGL 4500 Router.  and everyone here, including, the members, the mod's and admin. Helped me alot, and the setup was quiet super easy.  Here in this country, they only offer, DSL Internet through the phone line. So that's why i needed the d-link 2320B modem modem and D-link dgl 4500 router. now they have updated the internet speed's and so i upgraded, the fastest speeds. Witch is 50 MB Download, and 2 MB upload.  Wow this speed is so great we noticed the difference right away.

We have an online gaming lounge, and the Router & modem have been working fine. there is an online tournament, on may 14, on xbox live. so everyone who is practicing come's over to our lounge to practice. Especially now with the new internet speeds. We are the only ones in the country that offer this speed, in a gaming lounge.

Well we bought 10 xbox 360 . just for the tournament. i have a NETGEAR R0318 8 port router switch, that used to be working fine. until my sister reset to factory default, and pushed the button on the back and i lost all the settings. The person who set it up for me, was a tech, that used to come to our gaming lounge to play, Well i have lost contact with that person. and here in this country, people don't know alot about this stuff. and i would like to set it up again with my dlink dgl 4500.  and what better place, than here. the forums. the people who helped me before. :)

I would like to setup this NETGEAR R0318 again together with my DGL 4500 router. but i forgot, what settings i had, on the netgear router.  Right now i have my d-link DSL 2320B MODEM, goes to my DGL 4500 set to, DHCP. and everything works fine. now what i want to do, is connect from one of the LAN ports, from the D-link DGL 4500 router, to the WAN PORT on the NETGEAR R0318, and make all the LAN PORTS on the R0318, have internet access, to be able to connect the other 8 xbox 360 to them. or any computer's to them.

If im not mistaking, i cannot have the D-link DGL 4500 and the NETGEAR R0318 both set to DHCP at the same time.  Please i need some help one this. because, lots of people, are trying to come to my shop to play, but they can only play on 4 tv's and 4 xbox' instead of all 11 that we have.

i want to set it up, and have it normal, just like right now, my DSL 2320 modem, feeds my DGL 4500 router, i use 3 port to connect 3 xbox 360, and the 1 port that is empty i want to connect it, to the WAN port on the NETGEAR R0318, to give all the LAN ports on the NETGEAR R0318, internet access, so i can connect, the other 8 xbox 360.

Here is a link to the NETGEAR R0318 manual

http://sysdoc.doors.ch/NETGEAR/ro318_manual.pdf

Please read the mannual, because i need some explanation, as to what settings, i need to setup on the NETGEAR  R0318 ROUTER, as it has the same address as the D-link DGL 4500 192.168.0.1 . and also what settings i need to change, on the NETGEAR R0318. to get it working.

so i would like to have is - D-LINK DSL-2320B MODEM+ D-LINK DGL 4500 ROUTER + NETGEAR R0318 ROUTER  to be able to have 11 ports all together.

The NETGEAR R0318 used to work fine when i connected, to the DGL 4500 before, but when my sister factory reset, and pushed the button on the back, i lost the settings. that they set up for me.

Thank You and God Bless

Thank you in advanced..

If you want to connect the NG router and use the LAN ports in back as a switch or hub, don't connect the LAN port of the 4500 to the WAN port on the NG router, connect it to the LAN port #1 or any of them. It's possible that you might have to disable the DHCP server on the NG router as well. This should effectively turn the NG router into a switch or hub. It's preferred to only use one router on a single home network, i.e. ISP modem--> 4500-->Pcs and devices.

In your case it's possible to set it up like this:
Internet modem-->4500-->Lan port cable out too LAN port on-->NG router-->Lan ports to connect other PCs and devices too. Don't use the WAN port on the NG router.

FurryNutz, what we really wanted, was to be able to connect the D-LINK DGL 4500 to the WAN port on the NETGEAR R0318 ROUTER, and use all the LAN ports on the NETGEAR router, but this way, we had to sacrifice, a LAN port.  but at least this way, we where able to connect, the rest of the gaming consoles. except for one of the consoles.

thank you so much, for your help this helped us alot

kisses and hugs

Glad to be of help and it worked.
I recommend connecting your game consoles directly to the 4500, then everything else to the Netgear router LAN ports. Use the features of the 4500 to help manage the game consoles. Look at the stickies in the forum for using Gamefuel. Works great.

Hope you enjoy.  ;)
