I've had a DIR-615 rev b for a while and have had it set up with PPPoE sign on. The DSL modem I am using is a Motorola 2210 setup in bridge mode. All was working well. I recently switched over to  dry loop AT&T dsl from AT&T dsl over a voice line.

After the switch, I am unable to sign on via PPPoE using the dir-615. If I bypass the router, I am able to gain internet access via modem PPPoE sign on. I've also switched modems (Actiontec DT701D) with the same results. What has changed that would prevent the router from PPPoE sign on? I've verified that all settings on the router were the same before and after the dry loop change (including password).

Is the Actiontec in bridged moded as well. Have seen some issues with some DSL Modem that also have some voice capabilities. If it was working with the Motorola modem and now it's not with the actiontec, probably has an issue with this modem. Can you use the old modem and see if it connects again?

It works with neither modem in bridge mode. Originally, I only had the motorola and it worked in bridge mode with the dir-615 doing log on. Since I changed over to dry loop, neither the Actiontec or Motorola work in bridge mode with the dir-615 doing PPPoE sign on.

I would ask the ISP if there is a difference and see if they can shed some light on this. Let us know what happens.

I'll give them a call...not sure if they will offer any support as they usually won't touch someone else's router.

Spoke with AT&T and they said there is no difference between dry loop and dsl over voice with PPPoE sign on. The modem should pass the log on data from the router.... I've reset the router back to default with the same results.

What did change in the switch over was my log on password. Previously, the password was the same as my email account. Now at&t assigns a new password when you initialize the account. Almost acts as if the router is not clearing out the old password....

Try a factory reset of the router then enter in the PPPoE account information after you bridge the DSL Modem. It should work after you power cycle everything and bring it back up.

Also, try bypassing the router, setting the modem with the username and password, and seeing if you can go online. This will confirm you username and password. Then turn off PPPoE and all things in your modem (set it to bridge/transparent), disconnect it from the PC and power cycle it.

Next, log into the router, save your configuration (just in case), and do a factory reset. After giving it time to reset, power cycle it again. Then log back in and configure with the same username and password into the router as you did the modem, and **clone the mac address of your computer to the router**. Once all configured, reconnect the router to the modem and power just the router. If your not online then, I would be very confused.

If I bypass the router, all is fine...can log on and surf. I did a hard reset of the d-link and did what you suggested....no luck...

Appreciate all the responses.....Well, I emailed D-link last evening explaining the situation. I received a reply this morning outlining the steps to facilitate PPPoE sign on via the router. I had done everything correctly except I had "AT&T DSL" as the optional service name. D-Link said to leave this blank and what do you know....it now works!

Prior to switching over to dry loop with my old password, the optional service name entry did not cause a problem. Apparently AT&T has changed their log on parameters; new passwords, no service name, etc.

To summarize: leave the optional service name blank in the PPPoE sign on field and all is well.
