Got RMA from online shop but since it was one of those 24-hour deals I can only return it and get a refund since they don't have any replacements in stock. I'm gonna call DLink again in the am and see if they'll RMA a replacement.
p.s. just a little trivia - VoIP has been around for 15 years but has only recently in the last 3 years proven to be an application that is pretty solid and most, if all issues are related to improper configuration or even more so the underlying hardware layer.
Voice is a RealTimeProtocol and doesn't want to wait in line with the rest of the network traffic. In comparison, the early 2000's - VoIP was like driving a finely tuned sports car on a pothole/traffic ridden highway. Now, a decade later we have resurfaced the road ways with higher-speed low-cost bandwidth and have the ability to push traffic to the side of the road while the VoIP ambulance rushes on by. TDM (electronic/digital/analog signaling) is on it's way out, ...oddly enough though, fax machines are still very widely used considering an age-old technology that really hasn't seen any increased development in over 10 years, outside of FoIP, that is.
<<VOIP>>
-->1996 - VoIP, yay! but still very buggy.
--------->2000 - Most bugs worked out but not completely solid, still expensive
-------------->2005 - Very solid and reliable with expensive network equipment and bandwidth
--------------------2011 - 99.999% reliable even delivered as a hosted service, low cost hardware and bandwidth with much more control over prioritization enforcement, I can now do VoIP either equivalent or in some cases much cheaper than traditional premise based systems, even though I do those too =)
VoIP = Thumbs up and even in this recession I am saving my clients $$$ every year - Sorry for the plug but if DLink can prove to me that it's hardware can meet the needs of VoIP for small offices and remote workers it might be worth it for them to leave this plug in!
