My daughter has had a DIR-628 Router for about a year.  The wired connection still works but the wireless doesn't.  There is one wired PC and a wired XBox; 2 PCs, a Laptop, an XBox and an Ipod all wireless.  The wireless devices see the network, the connection is reported as excellent but none of them can connect. My daughter isn't too computer literate.  I have some knowledge but not about routers.  Can you help us?

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA2.

Wireless modes is Mixed G & N.  It was WPA/WPA2 but changed it to WPA2 and still doesn't work.  It was working fine for a long time and then just quit with no changes.  Did we have too many devices on it?

Try single mode g. Turn off ALL devices accept for one and test. Graduate devices ON and test.

I think I'm dealing with the same issue. I used mine with no problems and packed it away in April when we moved to our new place. I was tired of using the Belkin router already set up and decided to use my D-Link today.

I plug it in and everything seems fine, but when I log in to secure the password the wireless signal disappears almost immediately. I reboot it and it comes back for my laptop to connect, then leaves a minute later.

Right now, the 2.4GHz light is flashing, but my laptop and phone cannot detect the signal.

Do a factory reset first.
Try single mode G setting on the router under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Turn off Security temporarily to test.
Turn off ALL devices accept for one and test. Graduate devices ON and test.

I am having this problem also. If you reset the router or save changes it will start to work then over time the wireless side will not work anymore. Like i had yesterday I was on and my wife was on in the am than, I left for work half way thru the day she was not able to connect anymore it gives you the device is out of reach. Then I got home in the pm and it was working again with out resting or saving changes. You will have the 2.4GHz light on the router and you will see it with your device but you cannot log on. I dont have any security on and it is still doing it. I am running hardware version: A2 and Firmware : 1.25NA with a Win 7 64 bit hardwired computer

What wireless modes are you using?

What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Use InSSIDer to find out.
Turn off Short GI and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

I was using mode N,G and B. Now that I am only using mode N and G the problem is fixed.
Security mode is none
Devices that get connected are a laptop and smartphones (all 3 OS versions. Android, iOS and Wp 7)
Yes cordless phones
Short GI ans Extra Wireless Protection are still on
No change to wire PC security setup
When the b band is on I have the connecting issue with any device but now with mode g and n I have not had any issues in about a week now.

B mode isn't needed much any more as most devices now days support G mode at a minimum.
it's ok to turn off Short GI and Extra Wireless Protection and I would use WPA/WP2 security unless you don't have any neighbors around.
