Bittorrent Not Working
« on: January 26, 2009, 04:58:16 AM »

I am no longer able to download with the DNS-323 Bittorrent client after upgrade to FW 1.06. I can access the GUI but when I try to add a torrent from a URL nothing happens.

I had this problem too. I didn't try with IE but I saved the torrent file to one of my drives, then pointed the DNS-323 to the file instead of the URL - and it worked.

Is the URL functionality not working as it was in 1.05?

For me the URL worked a few days with 1.06 and then suddenly stopped. Have reinstalled the BT software, done factory default etc but nothing work. I can add a BT if I do it via the Add file function.
I use the Easy Access 4.2 binaries for BT client  because I can't get 4.4 to work, it run, reboots the DNS-323 but the Nas_Prog\BT folder is empty. Old 4.2 installation is gone so I need to manually copy it back.

Can you please release the 4.4 version of the BT software as a zip file so we can manually install it, I guess Mac users need them also.

I have the same request for the BT zip file as I can't get ESU 4400 to install BT at all.

BTW, I snooped the packet during the BT install. Looks like there is an error during the conversation between caspssl and http

Same here - I have tried several valid URL's that download on computer, adding URL won't add the torrent in any browser, but from file does work. This was the same in 1.05, I thought 1.06 would have fixed it. I am using a DIR-655 router with no other issues. Vuse (azureus) runs on my server fine downloading the same torrents, based on the same URLs. Cannot delete the NAS_progs folder or BT folder as it tells my access denied, but have tried reinstalling BT client from easysearch to no avail.

We need an answer to this - there are other threads with the same problem.

Guys, if you are having trouble it's probably because you are pasting thepiratebay URLs in. Try pasting URLs from another torrent site and I'll bet it'll work. TPB added IPv6 on January 19th and that's when it broke for me. For some reason the DNS-323 requests the IPv6 addresses from DNS then stalls when it get the IPv6 address.

Quick fix for myself was to make my DNS server act as master for thepiratebay.org on my internal network and I only added the IPv4 addresses into the list.

My BT is working again!  ;D

This is resolved by changing the DNS(Domain Name Server) in the web admin page.

First do a nslookup on your PC to make sure you can resolve host name in your environment. Then compare the DNS server ip on your PC with the one on the DNS323 web admin SETUP/LAN page. If DNS1 is not equal to your PC DNS server ip then you should change it and save the configuration. This is how I fixed my problem.

oMac - could you explain that again please for the hard of understanding? I don't quite understand. THe DNS in my 323 shows the same 2 IPs as I have in my router (DIR-655), i.e. my ISPs primary and secondary DNS..

Would be great if you could elaborate a bit as I would love to solve this problem

Thanks :)

EDIT: Oh, are you saying that if the PC I'm using to add the URL has a DNS of the router gateway, and the 323 has correctly identified the DNS as my ISPs secondary and primary then it won't work, i.e. change the 323 DNS to router gateway as primary DNS?
