DHCP Reservation Problem with Printer and PS3
« on: July 11, 2011, 12:00:19 PM »

Hi

I'm having problems trying to set up static IP's for my HP Photosmart B110a printer and PS3.

When I go to the Lan setup page, neither of them are available in the drop down lists.  Only my wireless laptop and wired desktop are showing.

So far, I've set static IP addresses for both the printer and the PS3 in their own config settings.  I'd like to add them to the reserve list on the router.  I can't though because they are not showing up.  I've also tried it with them both being assigned addresses from the router automatically.

Both the printer and the PS3, both wireless, are able to get online though.

Here's the router info

DIR-615
H/W Ver. D2
F/W Ver 1.00VG

I have tried obtaining a firmware update through the router itself and it tells me "This firmware is the latest version"

Current Firmware Version :    1.00VG
Current Firmware Date :    Tue 05 May 2009

Anyone got any ideas please?

Thank you

Are they showing up under Status/Device Info/Lan Computers?

What region are you from?

Try this:
You need to remove the IP address reservations from the devices and ensure they are set up for Auto Obtain IP addressing. Power off the devices. Power off the router and then back on. Power on the devices and do they display under Setup/Networking?

A work around would be to copy and paste from the Status section the Mac addresses and IP address for each device and paste into the Add Reservation Section under Setup/networking.

To get the FW updates you'll need to go the Dlink web site for your region and see if there is FW updates there and manually download and do the following.
Factory reset.
Update using the .bin file that you need to unpack from the zip file.
Factory reset once more.

I'm from the North East of England.

There's no Lan computers under Status/Device Info.  That page just shows Lan, Internet and Wireless 802.11N

This is from Active Sessions

IP Address           TCP Sessions   UDP Sessions
192.168.0.101   15                    5   (Desktop)
192.168.0.102   2                    0   (Laptop)
194.168.4.100   0                    1   (DNS Server)*
192.168.0.100   1                    0   (Printer)

* DNS :  194.168.4.100   194.168.8.100 (from the status page under Internet)

Under the Connected Wireless Client List it shows my laptop and the printer.  The IP address is there for my laptop along with the MAC address, but only the MAC address is showing for the printer, not the IP address.

Will it not matter if the devices don't actually show in the DHCP Client List, as long as they are copied and pasted into the DHCP Reservation boxes below that.

I just don't understand how the router only detects the laptop and the desktop, but not the printer or PS3 in the dropdown selection.

I've also been to the Dlink website to look for updates, but my router product version isn't listed there.

It shows 2:

1. DIR-615 Hardware Revision B2
2. DIR-615 Hardware Revision D1

On the sticker on the bottom of my router, the Hardware Revision is D2

Anyway, I'll try rebooting everything again and see what happens.

Thanks again.

That worked.  Thank you. :)

As I said earlier, my Hardware Revision D2 is not listed on the page, only the B2 and D1.  Perhaps this means there are no updates for my particular version?

What region of the world are you? NA or EU?
Possible that there isn't any updates, yet.

Exactly. Keep it there man. Save off the routers configuration to file for back up just in case you have to reset the router for any reason, you can just reload the file and settings with out having to manually set it all up.  ;) Glad it's working for you.
