New 655 Router Not Working with Wireless Devices ...
« on: July 15, 2011, 05:26:40 PM »

I got my replacement 655 Router today, but none of our wireless devices can get online. I've called D-Links Tech Support several times. They escalated my Case several times, and finally gave up!

They told me they will have a Supervisor call me back. Haven't heard from them yet (several hours) .....

Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? Maybe they sent me a defective Router ....

My desktop can get online just fine, although a little slower than the old 655 Router.

-- Waiting for an answer .....

I can't believe what happened today ... On the phone with D-Link Tech Support today for about eight hours ....

Only to find out (thanks to my son!) that the only problem was our Charter Modem needed to be reset. D-Link told me that both of my D-Link Routers are defective.

Tomorrow I'll try the new Router I received today and see if it work, now that Charter reset the Modem.

If not, then I'll be returning both Routers .....

Yep the cable modem gives an IP to the MAC address of the item connected to it.  If you change that item without power cycling the cable modem you won't get an address most of the time.
