PS3 Media Server [PSM] on DNS-320 (for ISO streaming)
« on: August 18, 2011, 09:09:27 PM »

Anyone managed to get PSM working on a DNS-320?

I don't mean for transcoding, I'm just trying to remux the largest titles in DVD ISOs over UPnP.

Some Background:
I have a stack of DVDs (yes I bought them) that are now on the DNS-320 as .iso files. Those funky little media streamers you can pick up for £70 will crack open any ISO from a CIFS share on the NAS and present you with the dvd (menus and all) just fine. So all the TVs in the house can use the little media players no problem. The problem is one room has a PS3. The PS3 doesn't like ISO files (and never will due to sony being a distributor of over priced entertainment). Now I don't want to start splitting ISOs into VOBs or fire up PCs to do transcoding just for the sake of one room; I like having a simple file structure and don't want to be messing about with PCs when I sit down to a film/documentary/musicdvd/whatever. So I figure all I need is a DLNA compatible process sat on the DNS-320 that simply runs my own whittled down version of PSM to send out the existing streams of the main title of an ISO over the wire.

PSM seemed like a good starting point so I wondered if anyone here had it going is some form or another on their Marvell powered wonder box? Maybe there's a better alternative to PSM as a starting point?

As an aside... I've been setting up the DNS-320 on and off for a couple of days and I'm loving it so far. It's puking data back over the network at about 50MB/sec from a 2TB Spinpoint F4, it's the first NAS i've had with working spin down, and the automated events are so handy.
