D-Viewcam resolution problem
« on: August 23, 2011, 07:21:04 AM »

Hi,

I have already left a post in the D-Viewcam sticky but just realized it might be better to start my own topic

My problem is with the main console of D-Viewcam : I am working with a monitor with 720p resolution (that's 1280x720) and if I try to start the console on that monitor, the console does not even want to start, giving me an error message stating that the minimum resolution for the console to work is 1024x768.

I can fool the software, by changing the resolution to XGA before launching and the change the resolution afterwards. The software will come up with some (silly) warning, giving me the option to restart because of the new resolution. Of course if I restart it will not work ...

I just find EXTREMELY BAD that the D-View Cam Main Console gives me an error message and actually refuses to open if the resolution is not set to 1024 x 768. I NEVER saw a software that refuses to start just for resolution conflict....

I would love to have other opinions, options, solutions....

Best

I tried to run d-viewcam on my Acer Aspire netbook (1024x600 resolution). Doesn't work.  >:( There are no requirements for resolution printed on the camera package or manual.

Have you been able to work around this?

Hi skunkworks,

I did find a workaround, which was to trick my computer to think it was connected to a XGA monitor rather than 1280x720. I could then start D-Viewcam and could get back to the 1280 x720 res, the app would complain and be partly offscreen, but at least I had it started...

But I do not know if this will work for you, as i was working with a virtual machine inside my Macintosh. I now found a software for my Mac which does what I need and do not have to come close to this terrible piece of software (accompanied by poor customer care) anymore. Relief !!!

Hope you find a better solution also...

Alain,

Thanks for the update.

What is the best resolution anyway? I was thinking of buying a new one.
